Mr. Das has been with CapAsia since 2006 with the launch of its first infrastructure fund, SEASAF. He has more than 19 years of private equity, principal investments and other financial services experience in the United States and in Asia. Prior to joining CapAsia, Mr. Das was a member of the Project & Structured Finance Group of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group in Singapore.
Mr. Das began his career in the United States energy industry in 1996 with Sempra Energy Solutions. As a project engineer and later as a project manager, he developed and managed the implementation of energy projects for commercial and light industrial clients in the U.S. Subsequently, Mr. Das worked at Enron Energy Services in Houston and London in a principal investments role. As an Asset Investment Manager at Enron, Mr. Das invested in contracted energy projects and managed risks of capital expenditure portfolios. He also developed valuation models for energy project portfolios within the new business development pricing team.
Presently, Mr. Das is a member of the Board of Directors of three CapAsia investee companies. Mr. Das has an MBA from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, in the United States. He graduated at the top of his class with a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
